Last Tuesday on March 28th, I left Merida which has been my home on and off for nearly 12 years.
I am living about an hour away in a tiny house in a tiny beach community called, Chelem on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.
My girlfriend is staying in Merida for a while because she has work there. And I will be here on the coast for 3-4 months as I continue the process of getting rid of physical possessions and figuring out how I am going to start traveling full-time with my animals. I have not decided where I am going next. And Dulce is deciding if she will be able to come with me.
(For those of you who are interested in my journey, I am creating daily YouTube shorts on a channel called Ryan Around Mexico and Off the Beaten Path. Several already have 1000 views or more).
We are living in a time where there are few institutional limits on where we can live and how we can live. This is just as true for Feldenkrais practitioners as it is for Feldenkrais students and anyone else. If you can figure out a way to make income via the internet, you can live just about anywhere that you want. For me, that means I need to find ways to be productive (create and market Feldenkrais sessions) and also to be reasonably happy and engaged with life.
For the last 4 years, being engaged with life has meant family. Not my biological family but the family of my girlfriend who is Mexican. But the intensity of being so near her family has taken its toll on her and I, and we have decided to start traveling again.
The question is can we travel and still stay productive and engaged?
So..stay tuned if you are interested in this type of thing.
Have you ever considered long-term travel?
Or perhaps you have done it in the past?
I would be interested to hear your thoughts and stories.
Safe travels!
Godspeed my friend!!!
